tongue-li-ness

Andy definitely knows what he wants and what he likes. And he definitely also knows what he doesn't like. Of late he's been rather picky, and the behavior I'd like to remember is how he takes a bite of food, sometimes two. When he realizes it is unsatisfactory in some way (temperature, texture, taste) he makes a horrible face, opens his mouth, and slowly sticks out a big fat tongue covered in the offending food. Today, for example, it was chicken salad. The tongue came slowly out and he began to cry, while simultaneously keeping his mouth open and tongue extended. He didn't try to get the food off his tongue, didn't use his hands. Just held his tongue there and bawled.

I had to remove it from his tongue myself.
